Playing Favourites

I loved both of these franchises when I was younger, and I was fascinated by the fact that one of the most recognisable video game icons (and one with a very simple design) would be the favourite character of the creator of another already iconic gaming character (and one whose franchise is more successful). When Pac-Man made a surprising appearance in SSB4, I couldn't stop thinking about him duking it out with Mario with the quote in mind as well. I made a Miiverse comment after defeating Mario as Pac-Man that had the same idea. I'd been thinking about doing a full piece of art dedicated to this idea, and I eventually made it. And quick, too; this was drawn last week and only took a few days to color.

One little mistake in the making was that Mario had four fingers on each hand instead of five. I guess I was too used to drawing the Buds, who have four fingers on each hand. It was tedious to have to find ways to add in that extra finger on Mario's two hands without making it look amateurish, but I eventually made it work.
